A snippet from the article:
Q: How has civility made a difference in your practice of law?
To put it simply, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. I strive to enter every negotiation with the mindset that all parties involved can win.
One instance of civility that sticks out in my head occurred last year. After a grueling and lengthy negotiation process, the opposing counsel and I could not achieve our goals. Some attorneys would have been very upset with the situation and might have taken their frustration out on me. Fortunately, the opposing counsel recognized the position that I was in and acted with the utmost professionalism.
