Forbes Legal Council member Matthew Rossetti was featured in 2Civility, the communication channel of Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism. The publication recognizes attorneys throughout the state who are admired for their professionalism and civility in the legal field.

Rossetti is the founder and Managing Principal of Sentient Law, Ltd., where his primary practice areas are business counseling and corporate law. Prior to that, he focused on consumer rights.

In his spotlight on 2Civility, he discusses how his career began, what his life is like outside of work, his advice to aspiring entrepreneurs and lawyers and more.

A snippet from the article:

Q: How has civility made a difference in your practice of law?

To put it simply, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. I strive to enter every negotiation with the mindset that all parties involved can win.

One instance of civility that sticks out in my head occurred last year. After a grueling and lengthy negotiation process, the opposing counsel and I could not achieve our goals. Some attorneys would have been very upset with the situation and might have taken their frustration out on me. Fortunately, the opposing counsel recognized the position that I was in and acted with the utmost professionalism.
