Forbes Nonprofit Council Member Companies Create Jobs for the Homeless, Host Galas and More

We are proud to celebrate these Forbes Nonprofit Council members who are continuing to make a difference in their communities – from employing homeless men in women across the U.S. to improving the lives of children through sports. Below, we highlight three members and their big news.
First Step Staffing Opens Second Office in Philadelphia
Through an unusual and bold acquisition, First Step Staffing, a nonprofit staffing agency employing homeless and other disenfranchised folks in Atlanta, recently opened a second office in Philadelphia. Naomi Maisel is director of staffing operations & client resources at First Step Staffing.
First Step’s goal is to employ 500 homeless men and women in Philadelphia in the first year and more than 1,000 by year three. Government and nonprofit entities in Philly have been strong supporters.

Laureus Sport for Good Foundation USA Releases National Survey
On February 1, Laureus Sport for Good Foundation USA published its national survey of sport for development organizations, The State of Sport for Good 2017. Led by CEO and Olympic gold medalist Benita Fitzgerald Mosley, Laureus Sport for Good USA is a national foundation using sport as a tool for social change.
Laureus Sport for Good USA surveyed over 100 organizations to learn more about how nonprofits across the country are using sport to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and youth. Additionally, Benita expects 2018 to be a milestone year for the sector.

The Global Good Fund to Host Gala
On April 26, The Global Good Fund is hosting a gala to introduce its 2018 fellow cohort and celebrate its sixth year of The Global Good Fund Fellowship Program. Led by co-founder and CEO Carrie Rich, The Global Good Fund (GGF) is a nonprofit organization accelerating the development of high potential young leaders tackling the world’s greatest social challenges
The Global Good Fund Gala presents an opportunity to enjoy music and food in the company of likeminded peers who are passionate about leadership, entrepreneurship and social impact. Daniel Lubetzky, entrepreneur, author, founder and CEO of snack company KIND LLC, will be the keynote speaker at the gala.
