Some companies have higher turnover rates for a good reason. Seasonal businesses, for example, naturally tend to see more employees coming and going at certain times of the year. If your business typically has a low turnover rate that suddenly begins to spike, however, it’s time to investigate and find out why so that you can shore up retention efforts. Aside from the many cultural and operational benefits involved in retaining top employees for as long as possible, doing all you can to prevent further turnover is also critical to your bottom line. The costs associated with recruiting, hiring and training a new employee can be substantial, and savvy business leaders understand that constantly having to attract new talent can quickly become a financial drain. To help, 10 members of Forbes Coaches Council discussed methods you can use to find out the root cause and stop losing employees at rates unseen before.
